Center for Arts and Education
Newport Contemporary Ballet (NCB) serves the residents of Newport County and the citizens of Rhode Island as an educational resource and cultural attraction with a history of nearly 45 years. We educate approximately 3,600 children in our school-based and Academy programs annually. We also welcome nearly 4,000 audience members to our performances each year. Our Center for Arts and Education will expand our impact in the community and meet the area's growing demand for multi-purpose spaces which can be used to serve other local arts and community groups. Our new home will be located on the property we own at 435 Broadway, in the heart of the community we are very proud to serve. We envision it as a vibrant place for people of all ages to come together, learn, grow, and be surrounded by positive energy and artistic inspiration.

Why support
NCB (formerly IMC) is an integral part of the City of Newport. We welcome individuals of all ages to experience art in a safe and nurturing environment through our Academy classes, our school programs, and our dynamic performances. We offer scholarships to students who qualify financially and who display a deep desire and talent for dance. Our educational and community programs are often offered in both English and Spanish, providing opportunities for children and their families to enjoy movement without barriers. We believe dance is for everyone. It helps us express ourselves in different ways and find deeper connections with one another. The arts are so important to our world and having the proper space to include everyone is vital!

Invest in the Center for Arts and Education
Our new home will:
-Provide more space for our community and educational programs for children and adults.
-Allow us to increase the number of students who qualify for our scholarship program.
-Provide a performance and rehearsal space with capacity for 100-120 audience members.
-Expand the number of events and performances we can offer our community.
-Provide a multi-purpose space for other non-profit organizations to access.
-Provide increased office space for our administrative team.
-Conform to ADA standards.
-Provide adequate parking for our families and patrons.
-Aid NCB in maintaining financial sustainability by generating more earned revenue.
Community Impact
NCB believes in the value of community partnerships. We strive to collaborate with a variety of organizations on Aquidneck Island and throughout Rhode Island. Our dancers and staff work extensively with both public and private schools as mentors and teachers. Building a home of our own in our community will allow us to open our doors to our friends and deepen our relationships with our partners, all the while serving our community in a more inclusive, comprehensive way.
