Our New Dancer Program offers students an opportunity to participate in dance classes at The Academy at Newport Contemporary Ballet. NCB’s New Dancer Program provides gifted tuition for 4th grade students to attend two 19-week semesters at NCB’s pre-professional school, The Academy at Newport Contemporary Ballet. Students are selected through the in-school program.
As of January 2023, NCB has the following programs in place:
- Claiborne Pell Elementary School students: an after-school program for Pell students in grades 1-3 taking place at IMC studios. Team taught by a Company dancer, Social/Emotional Learning Teacher, and Teaching Assistant
- Wilbur & McMahon Elementary School students: on-site at their school. For students in grades 1-4 and taught by a Company dancer.

Dancing Through Boundaries
Dancing Through Boundaries, was created by NCB as a multi-modal learning strategy to reinforce core curriculum standards for elementary classrooms and has evolved as our flagship educational program which has operated successfully since 2012. The program makes connections between dance/movement, the arts, and classroom curriculum. Lessons learned and understood kinetically help students to advance academic learning, build life skills, support social emotional learning, inspire confidence, and build self-esteem.
In our long history of partnership with our local school systems, we strive to demonstrate the connection between dance, the arts, and classroom curriculum. Lessons learned and understood kinetically help students to inspire confidence and build skills. Our goal is to help all Newport County students master critical skills that are crucial to their future success in school and life.
